I was in a car accident today, I'm okay, but I found myself wondering what to do next time..?

I was wondering what the best thing to do after being in a car accident is. If you're in the front seat, should you put your arm up to block the air bag, or should you let it hit you?

In the back seat, is it better to block yourself from the seat or to let your body fall naturally?

Etc.

Thanks in advance to all who answer my question!

  1. Go with the flow. When you tense up and try to "brace" yourself, you often end up hurting yourself even more. This why drunks often live but their victims die. Besides, most crashes are so sudden and quick that by the time you see it coming it has already happened.   And don't try to block the bag unless you want a broken arm driven into your face.

  2. Just hang onto the steering wheel and 'go with the flow'.  Air bags deploy with a tremendous amount of speed and force.

    Same with being a passenger.

Wear your seat belt and let IT do its job.

  3. wow. no. do NOT try to block the airbag with your arm unless you want a broken arm. keep both hands on the wheel  at the proper positions of the wheel (like this http://www.edmunds.com/media/news/column...

You might want to try to protect you head if your in the back seat, but honestly I dont think it will make much difference if youre wearing a seat belt and youre not in a really really serious accident.
