I was in a crash today in my 07 jeep commander and the air bags did not go off the front was smashed up good?

Your impact, as hard as it was, did not meet deployment parameters. A front airbag will deploy if you meet certain deceleration and impact criteria. Side airbags have been known to deploy by a sharp impact in the door post area, like using a heavy hammer to attempt to adjust a door striker plate.

I work for an insurance company in auto claims and this question comes up a lot!  It does depend on the force of impact and where exactly it impacted on the front as well.  Since your vehicle is a 2007 it may be a good idea to have it checked at the dealership or while it's in for repairs to make sure the sensors are working properly.

because there are factors in a crash that you obviously don't understand.  its not like the airbag will go off in every crash, even front end ones.  the sensors used in airbag deployment go off when needed, obviously in this crash it was not needed.  if it was, and they didn't go off, you wouldn't be asking a question, youd be dead or in a hospital
