I was in prison for 2 years can i go to nursing school?

i went to prison for 2 years for burgarly and fraud. i did my time and finished parole and now ive been doing good for almost 5 years. My question is im really interested in becoming a nurse. Ive tried contacting the department of nursing but all they told me is its in my own risk. What should i DOO?? Plleasse help im desperate....thanks a lot..

  3. Hello Ray. One thought that comes to mind is seeing if you can get your record expunged.

    A lot of rules apply. Only a first time felony can be expunged. Must be non violent charges. Time elements apply (free and clear of all legal encumbrances for at least 5 years).

    Best advice for this course of action is to locate an attorney in the jurisidiction of the arrest/conviction for a consultation. He can tell you if you qualify. If so, he can draw up your petition and submit to the court in your behalf.

    Upon expungement, all rights are returned to you and you wont have problems in any background checks.
