I was just assaulted, should I report to police?

I'm a Christian and I'm trying to forgive the person who just did this to me. It's hard.

Anyway, what happened was, I was sitting on top of a bench, and this dude pulled me down, then started kicking me in the cheekbones and ****. He wanted my iPod nano and he stole it. Luckily, I'm a strong resilient guy and all I got was a cut and bleed from the fall.

I think he got mad that I was looking at his girlfriend, but then also saw my iPod, and decided to fight for it.

I'm mad but I'm sort of see what I can use from this experience, I'm no longer being a nice guy.

Should I report to the cops?

Yes!!! You have just been assaulted and had something stolen from you! You should ring the Police and the IDIOT who stole your iPod should get ten years!!

If you do not report him to the police, you are not only depriving him of learning a lesson, but you will be responsible for the next attack he launches against another human being.  Call the police.

Your forgiveness is abmirable but don't you care at all for the rest of your community?  How about making the call just to do your part to help protect your neighbors?

Absolutely.  It sounds like this person may have major issues and the next time might really hurt someone badly or worse.  If you are cut or bruised take pictures (digital OK).  If you went to the ER or a doctor take documentation.  Try to remember the clothing this person was wearing, any identifying scars, marks or tattoos.  For all you know, this person could be wanted by the police for doing this before.  I am a Christian too but I am not a punching bag or a doormat and I don't believe you are either.
