  1. for me working with children is much easier than adults. kids doesn't know how to lie they are pure they do ever thing they want to do they will tell you whats on their minds. and the most important thing that i know that i can help shape the future of that child.

  2. to make a positive influence in a child's life.

My own children influenced me to be a teacher - when they were young, I stayed home and did family daycare - when my youngest started 1st grade, I went to work teaching preschool and have been there ever since 18 years later. I now own my own business!  Greatest challenge would have been my last boss -ugh!

  3. Over forty years ago on my last day of kindergarten, I was so sad on the last day because it was over, I promised myself I'd go back...and I did!  It took me twenty years, but eventually I made it back to kindergarten...except this time I had the big desk!

I always knew I'd be a teacher.  After all this time, I can't imagine being anything else.   The best part is of course time spend with kids.  It's magic to watch them struggle and then get it.  I teach second grade now.   I have a student who has no confidence in himself at all.  He came to me essentially a non-reader.  A few weeks ago as he was reading to me, he noticed the words were getting easier to figure out and some he even knew without thinking.  He looked up at me and said, "Hey!  I can read!"  THAT'S why I do it!

The challenges come from state testing and people who don't know anything about children thinking we should continue to push them harder and harder.  There are also parents who, rather than holding children accountable for things blame teachers.  But that's just a small price to pay for the privilege of spending my days watching children learn.

  4. I just always wanted to teach children. It was in my blood. It was all I wanted to do.

  5. I'm in school right now getting my associates in Early Childhood Education.

I love kids and I've watched my 4 year old cousin everyday since he was born. Watching him develop and learn, seeing that wonder in his eyes or that excitement when he learned a new word or a new phrase, that solidified it for me.

I've always had an interest in teaching but I had never decided.

If you want to be a teacher, I think patience is a big part of it as well as a flair for thinking outside the box. The desire and passion is a huge part too, don't just teach because you have no other choices.

Everyone remembers one of their favorite teachers and how they helped them along...I think eventually, I want to be one of those teachers.
