After having not used facebook for about 24 hours, I got home from school to this email:

"Hi,

Our systems indicate that you've been misusing certain features on the site. This email serves as a warning. Misuse of Facebook's features or violating Facebook's terms of use may result in your account being disabled . Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

If you have any questions, please contact warning@facebook.com from your login email address.

The Facebook Team"

I immediately tried to log into facebook, finding out that my account was disabled by an administrator. WTF? A warning immediately followed by a disabled account? This makes no sense!

I know for sure I did absolutely nothing wrong. I don't email too much at all, nor do I spam. I have in fact never spammed before. I never posted any questionable photos of me nor did I use a fake name. My network has been confirmed (I have been a member of it for 3 years). I have three years' worth of pictures on my account, which is why it's so important that I get it back. I wasn't using any questionnable aps nor did i ever harass anyone.

I checked the FAQ as to why I got disabled and found this:

"Facebook enforces limits on the site in order to prevent certain actions that can be considered abusive. Your account has been disabled for persistent and rapid use of a certain feature. Unfortunately, for security reasons, we will not be able to further explain these limits. "

I emailed disabled@facebook.com the following:

To Whom It May Concern,

My account was disabled shortly after I received a warning. They said I misused some features of the site. I haven't been on facebook since last night and got home from a class with the email that my account was warned. Then I tried to log in and found it it was disabled too.

I have not logged into facebook all day and am extremely curious as to what I have done wrong. I believe that I do not merit my account being disabled. I am pretty sure that if it was then someone must have figured out my password (kind of unlikely because my password is a random jumble of numbers and letters) and

logged in and framed me. I do not believe I have "misused" any of facebook's features therefore do not believe action should have been taken against me. If I did anything that facebook did not approve of, I sincerely apologize and promise that if informed of what this infraction was and given back my account I will never do it again.

In conclusion, I don't believe I did anything to merit the disablement of my account. I use facebook as a way to keep in touch with friends and nothing else.

I honestly don't understand why my account was warned and disabled in the short spaced of an hour when I never was on facebook. I believe this was a mistake - I have never misused facebook and have no intention to do so. I believe my account should be reinstated. I am certain that if my account has committed a "facebook felony" grave enough for my account to be disabled, I was most certainly framed. I never did anything even remotely illegal and read the terms and conditions thoroughly. I am utterly shocked that this happened - This is clearly a mistake!

24 hours later, and I have yet to recieve a reply.

1) How long do you think it would take for me to get a reply

2) what is the likelihood that I will get my account back?

3) If I can't get my account back (a total shame, three years of building it up for nothing! I have so many pictures i dont have backups of on there!) is there a way for me to get my pictures?

4) If I do get my account back (fingers crossed) will it be exactly as I left it?

  1. may be you or your friend did some thing on your account or may be too much application's or to many friends you added that might be a spam on you it happened to a lot of my friends

  2. 1) It shouldn't take that long, I'd give it ~ 2 days.

    2) Very likely as long as you're positive you didn't violate any terms (by the looks of it I'd say you didn't do anything wrong).

    3) No if you can't get your account back everything in it is "gone" (at least, inaccessible)

    4) If you get it back it will be exactly as you left it. It will just be like you deactiveated and reactivated your account.

I'm not sure exactly what may have happened. But I have one guess. Did you leave your computer on while you were in class? If so, you may have a "facebook virus" on your computer - FB viruses are know to log your password, and login to your account and send spam messages everywhere. Obviously with your account disabled you can't check your account, but maybe ask your facebook friends to see if they previously received any message(s) from "you" (it won't show now because your account has been disabled, but it may be in their email notifications, etc).

If you computer wasn't on it could still be the case that someone logged your password and used your account to spam.

For safety I would scan your computer with http://housecall.trendmicro.com and/or any anti-malware software you have.

Of course it may just be a facebook mix-up. Currently your account data "should" not be deleted, just inaccessible for you so far.

Best of luck with your account!

  3. register yours facebook profile using your mobile phone and get out from this problem in future.

  4. if you send too many messages or mass spam application you will not get your account back.
