I was just hired at Old Navy and have a 3 hour NEO(?) training next week?

What kind of things can I expect to do during this training? Videos? And should I just wear what I would wear to work? I would have asked these questions at the interview, but sometimes I just go blank when they ask me if I have any. Thanks for your help! Oh also, do you know if O.N. employees are allowed to wear open-toed shoes to work?

  1. I haven't worked at Old Navy, but I have worked at a few retail stores before.

The new employee training will probably consist of filling out your tax and other employment paperwork, watching a training video or two and getting an idea of the layout of the store, also a little bit of policies and procedures thrown in there too.

I'd say as far as dress, I'd go with nice but casual. I think they'll cut you a break if for the training (since you DON'T know the dress code yet) and won't be too upset of you stray from it a little bit.

However, I'd suggest (at least for the training) you wear comfortable shoes, maybe sneakers or tennis shoes. Then just ask when you get there what the normal policy is.

    Hope this helps! :-)

  2. During my training, all I basically did was fill out all my paperwork, and depending on what position you get, they'll probably just have you shadow someone. I was going to be cashier, so I just watched another cashier for a few hours.  And, no, you're not allowed to wear open-toed shoes. Close toe only. And I would suggest flats, because you'll be standing the entire time that you are working.
