Hello there!

I was just wondering what others think about nose piercings, my daughter is almost 15 and she wants to get her nose done. It is something important to her, she has a good argument, i just dont want to let her get it done. She says that she will pay for it, it wont involve me in anyway, if she decides later in life that she doesn't want it anymore she would take it out. I really don't know what to say. What would you say to this, and why.

thanks

PS- do you know of any good piercing places that do piercings on 15 year olds in Rochester MN?

  1. well i would suggest letting her get it done its not that bad but limit it to a little stud

if you dont give her a little leeway here and let her express herself she could end up rebelling in other ways and this is pretty harmless

  2. well im 15 nd i got my nose done wen i was 14 my mom let me nd my belly buh i want sum more buh she doesnt let me have more haha but its nothing wrong i mean ask urself its nothing wrong for here to do besdies she gunna pay fer it nd i gess shes old enough to decide that so if yu ask me left her its nothing bad

  3. it actually doesnt look bad . i got it done at 13 . its very classy .

    & enhances yur apperence .

  4. I think it sounds ok.. My sister got a stud piercing and it looks good! I say let her learn what she likes-if you don't mind that she wants to get it too much..

  5. let her do it....

    let her express herself...

if you let her know you dont accept it  will crush her self esteem...

    trust me.

  6. Iv got mine done i think you should let her it doesn't hurt and make sure she takes care of it (:

  7. personally id let her get it, like you say it can always be taken out!

but i advise you to go with her (or send someone sensible with her - if only for a second opinion)

she'll be so exited her health will be the last thing on her mind, she may not notice a dirty environment or that the piercer doesn't open a clean needle to use!

a second person will be able to pick up on these things!

    good luck!

  8. Well to be honest with you I got my nose pierced at a VERY young age, 13 to be exact.  The reason why I did it is because all my friends were getting it, I thought it was so cool, and I was a bit insecure so I figured if I had a nose ring people would think I was cooler. ( I went behind my moms back and did it)

I'm 16 now and I still wear my nose ring, I'm not insecure anymore, some days I just don't even wear it.  But I really like it, it fits my personality so I'm glad I did it.

I would want to say no, because she's still young and she may just be trying to fit in like it did.... but when you said if she doesn't like it anymore later in life she would take it out, There should be no harm in it.

If she put up a good argument, I would just let her.  Just make sure she's being responsible enough to take care of it..... an infected nose would be a disaster (I been though it.)

The decision is all on you, Mom!

  9. Even though her argument is good, there are reasons not to let her get it. If can cause scarring, even if the piercing is done correctly. It can also lead to infections. I'm sure you know 15-year-olds aren't the most responsible individuals out there. There can also be other complications since her body is still growing. The cartilage and skin on her nose will surely continue to grow, causing more problems associated with piercing it. This is generally what will cause the most scarring.

It's your best judgment as a parent. I'm only presenting you with the facts. Please, for her sake, make the correct choice.

  10. One like this...

    http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a78/Glo...

    Would be FINE...

I got mine when i was 12 (one month from turning 13)

And to get it i had to do reacherch on what can happen..like what kind of infections.. what to do if an infection happend..

Round about how much it would cost...

    And pay for it

I had to do the same with my eyebrow that i got when i was 13(2 weeks before i was 14)

    So if she wants it

I would make her do reacherch on it

And make her pay for it herself...

  11. yeah a little studded diamond would be nice

she is a good age to have one also, lots of people get them done at age 13 or 14

  12. You're a cool mom.

She's lucky. My mom wouldn't let me get ANY piercings until I turned 18, yet she would let me get tattoos...I never understood that concept but I guess I'm glad she didn't let me otherwise I would have ruined my face with metal. I pierced my own eyebrow when I was 15 and hid it from her, requiring me to repierce it everytime I left the room she was in...and sometimes had to walk around with a needle in my eyebrow...luckily it never got infected..but anyways..do what you feel is right. She may be enraged if you say no, although she'll get over it sooner or later. Do what you feel is right as a mother.

  13. I think it's fine for a 15 year old girl to have a nose ring. I think that they are understated and as long as there are no large hoops hanging out of her nose, they are very cute and completely acceptable.

Good Luck! I'll be in your shoes in a few years. Hope I can follow my own advice.

  14. YOU'VE Got to be Joking?

  15. you are her mother, and the final law, however, it sounds like she will do it anyway, and hide it from you. its not too hard to take it out when shes around you. and at least shes not asking for a tattoo, which everyone knows is permanent. my daughter is pierced all over in very unusual spots (including her cheek bone) and all i can say is at least its not permanent.

    good luck

  16. my 16 yr old got a tat and 2 lip piercings(snake bite) all this in the past year. i feel like if she wants to express herself this way well its better that i help find a GOOD place rather than let her do it at someones house!

  17. nice nose.

  18. I think that is a good age to get it done. I did mine myself when I was 14, so I think it is a good age.
