Kicker 08S12L72 Solo Baric L7 Subwoofers-12 inch

12"" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils

power range: 50-750 watts RMS (375 watts per voice coil)

peak power: 1,500 watts

frequency response: 20-100 Hz

sensitivity: 88.6 dB

I was wondering what kind of amp i should use for these subs. Im not looking for a cheap amp but i was thinking of a reasonably priced amp.

If i got a Kicker 08ZX750.1 Mono subwoofer amplifier 750 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms, would i need 1 or 2 of these amps to power them to the fullest

  1. since they are 2ohm DVC subs they can be wired to give you final impedance's at the amp of .5, 2, or 8ohms at the amp

the lower the final impedance the easier/cheaper it is to power but the lower the sound quality, plus not all amps are stable below 2ohms so i would go for a 2ohm final impedance-- here's a diagram of the wiring http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

so the amp needed will have about 1500watts RMS @ 2ohms and is also CEA-compliant which means that the amp has been tested and produces or exceeds the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion and distortion is the main cause of speaker damage

if you went with the zx750.1 you would need two of them and have each sub wired separately to each amp (or you could get the zx1500.1)

    here are the CEA-compliant brands

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio

    JVC

    Kenwood

    Kicker

    Memphis

    MTX

    Orion

    Pioneer

    Polk Audio

    PPI

    Rockford Fosgate

    Sony

i have all Kicker products for my sounds but i realize that you can get good amps at lower prices so here are some of my recommendations

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8518... (two of these)

    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1224... (one of these)

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7302... (one of these for $570 is what i would go with)

  2. I just bought the same subs. Both subs will take 1500 rms to run normally. Always purchase more power than your components will take, your gear will last alot longer this way.

I bought the new Hifonics Brutus that runs 2000 rms into 1OHM.

Wire your gear to 1OHM with the amp and run it at 60%...then crank the p**s out of it..remember the less power, the harder everything else has to work.

  3. Well i have the L5 models and i have a zx1500.1 and that destroys them. So i reccomend that for your L7's. But there is a problem with what the guy "?" is saying, Since you have 2 DVC 2 ohm subs you cant wire them to 1 ohm like he said. I odnt kno what hes talking about. You can either wire them down to .5 ohms 2 ohms or 8 ohms,  I have mine at 2 ohms and that is perfect. This amp would match your RMS into each speaker. Good luck

  4. go with a zx1000.1 or a zx1500.1
