  1. If you really want to help...look first at his diet. Be honest. What does he eat? Today's processed foods with all the chemical additives, dyes and high amounts of sugar can be the culprit most of the time. It's hard to find time to prepare natural foods and organic is sooo expensive. A lot of parents are too busy or too trusting of the medical profession to say no to drugs. When my 16 yr old was in grade school, the school office staff told me the number of children who had to come to the office for hyperactivity drugs was unbelievable. In some cases these drugs are unavoidable but how many parents have actually tried to change the child's diet before giving them a pill? I'd like to see a true, honest study on that one! So if you do take him to a counselor, see that it is one who doesn't support the idea of medication. Most people are unaware that the health care system has become a slave to the pharmaceutical companies. Just please try this first, do some research and try a new diet. We really don't know the long term effects of all these medications they are pushing down children's throats! Obviously you care about your son or you wouldn't have put this question out here to see what others thought! Good luck! Lastly, he still is quite young and could grow out of it so just be careful and only use medicine after you have exhausted all other methods!!

  2. i would wait a little more 4 sound a bit young

  3. I'm assuming he has had a physical recently and there are no medical problems that might be causing this. Next step would be to ask the pediatrician who handles your child's medical care for an appropriate referral. Work with your doctor on this, in case there is follow up care required, so s/he is kept in the loop.

  4. He may jsut be hyper because of what you are feeding him, and I seriously doubt counselling will help that.

Watch his sugar intake, and E numbers. If he starts to get hyper and boistorous while playing, pick him up and sit him down away from the other children to calm down. If he's getting hyper with you, put him in his bedroom for every minute of his age with the door shut until he calms himself down. Hyperness isn't rare in young children, but it can lead to problems at school due to concentration, so get it sorted now.

  5. how about instead of counseling you take him outside to play, to the park, swimming or some other physical activity.  parents are medicating because they are lazy.  he will be worn out if you play with him!

  6. First of all you have to define the term "Hyper".  Who diagnosed him as being "Hyper"  you or a doctor?

  7. He 4. He's a boy. He's "hyper." What's the problem, again?

Unfortunately, we live in a world that expects little boys to act like little girls and when they don't we assume their must be something wrong with them. That's a bunch of bull. There is likely nothing wrong with him. While it would be a good idea to consider his diet, you should just relax and accept him for who he is. He'll grow out of it eventually. Besides, if you are thinking ADHD or something, any decent doctor or school won't even assess those things before first or second grade. Why? Because 4 year old boys are hyper.

  8. All young children are hyper there is no need for counseling, if anything taking them to one would probably do more bad then good
