The AC Milan veteran defender has stated his experience of leaving Lazio for the Rossoneri, and reiterated that
he was not asked about his own choice.
The former Italian international was of the opinion that his side of the story was never told upon his exit from the Biancocelesti.
The defender was a firm favourite of the Lazio fans, however there was great negativity following his departure from the club.
Nesta reiterated that he had no intention of leaving the Biancazzurri, but he was forced to leave due to the club’s shortcomings.
In his interview to Sky Sport Italia, the defender felt that he should not have been treated the way he was, further commenting:
"I would never have wanted to leave but the club had to raise cash and it all happened in such a hurry that I could not
make a decision. I deserved more respect.”
Lazio were in considerate amount of debt and had to put their star players for sale, even though it would have been to the detriment
of the club in the long run. A dejected Nesta further went on to state that he was never given an option to stay on the club, and that the decision had been made to sell without his consent. Reflecting on the situation, he added:
"Passing me off as a traitor hurt because the truth came out that Lazio was in debt and had to sell. He handed me
the phone and told me that I should agree [to a transfer] because http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 needed money. He gave me no time to get my things and I ran to catch the plane to Milan.”

The 36-year-old has been a two club man, having played nine seasons for Lazio before his switch to AC Milan. Since then, Nesta
has stayed at the Diavolo outfit, winning two Scudetto and two Champions League titles and will be hoping that AC Milan retain the Scudetto this season as well.
