I was mailed my license plates and registrartion sticker by the state (TX) but I moved and lost them. ?

Does anyone know how to get new ones? And does is cost anything?

  1. Well, in TX you don't go to the courthouse, you go to your county Tax Assessor/Collector's office.  Tell them what happened and that you need replacement plates.  Fee is around $6.  No big deal.  :-)


  2. I live in Illinois and if we lose our sticker it's $4.00 to replace it, They will probably order a new plate, but it will usually have an "R" on it meaning it is a replacement. If you lost them you need to report it to the DMV right away, someone may be using them for their own use, which is usually for a stolen vehicle.

  3. Assuming you are still in TX, go to the nearest court house, and tell them you lost your plates and registration sticker and get replacements.  While you are there, update your address.
