  1. best thing to do is to fly fly or u might want to try flying there

  2. See 1st site below for suggested route.  Add a couple of hours to the time it says as this site is always short on time. You want to be sure to arrive in Monterrey BEFORE sunset.  You will need a Mexican car permit and car ins...see next 2 sites.  BEST to take care of these BEFORE you go to the border...saves a LOT of hassle.  Also, best to have a Mexican road atlas...the Guia Roji.  Can buy at big book stores or order on Amazon.com.  Hope you have someone to meet you on the outskirts of Monterrey...traffic in Monterrey will scare you half to death! Another option is to take the bus...Senda bus runs from Houston to Monterrey seveal times a day and the fare is less than $46.00.  Buses are very nice...see last website and get a Spanish-speaking friend to help you...or just check at the bus station in Houston.

  3. Its only a four hour drive from Laredo.

Someone will be able to help you once you have your car and visa matters done and you will be looking for HWY 85 Its a toll road so best to get some pesos at the border.

You will have to buy insurance and a permit at the Fiscal office and you best find someone that can direct you to it . It is to the left of the crossing and the last time I was there there were a few kids asking if i needed help. For a couple bucks it saved me a lot of grief.

    Go early in the morning.
