I was nervous on my debut in England, admits Mohammad Irfan – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983, the tall fast bowler from Pakistan, has revealed that he was suffering from jetlag during his debut international match against England in 2010, which hampered his performance, but vows to make amends in the upcoming
tour of India.
The lanky left-armer has been selected in the T20 squad for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, which begins from December 25, at Bangalore.
The 30-year-old cricketer, who caught the attention of the national selectors because of his extra-ordinary height, was in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 with the Pakistan ‘A’ team, when he was called into the senior side for the limited-over series against
England in 2010, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993 were suspended due to the spot-fixing controversy.
While speaking to Pakpassion, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
The left-arm speedster admitted that he failed to absorb the pressure of international cricket, conceding 37 runs in 5.3 overs without picking up a wicket and failing to complete his quota of 10 overs because of poor fitness.
He said, “I was put under tremendous pressure in that game as I was flown in and then asked to play at short notice. I was suffering from jetlag and had fitness issues, and of course I was also nervous.”
Irfan got an opportunity to prove his credentials in the second ODI as well but could not make an impression against the hosts, bowling another wicket-less seven overs. He was later dropped from the national team and was immensely criticised
for his poor fitness and inability to field up to the standards of international cricket.
The cricketer from Gaggu Mandi claims to have improved his fielding and fitness, vowing to cement his place in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team this time around.
“Physical fitness was also an issue in my last international game and hopefully that will not be a problem if I am chosen to play,” he added. “I don’t feel any tension or pressure as this time around, I feel much better prepared and
I am joining the team on the back of some good performances.”
