The name tags have the name and country of the person and rank , like Joe, Croatia, assistant waiter... when they are American, it has the name, rank and the city they come from... But some it has name, rank and U.S.C. ??

What is that? Is it a country? Because I saw people from very different ethnicities and positions, like a Maitre and a receptionist...

  1. Thats an easy one, Oona, U.S.C. stands for UNITED STATES CITIZEN. Carnival, as a very racist company labels it´s employees who are not American born from the ones who are, which are always in very high positions.

So the ones who are emigrants are USC, the other ones show the city they came from.

You will notice as well that the waiters at the LIDO wear name tags with different names than the dinning room, what they do is tell the office they lost theirs and pay the 5$ for a new one, then they use different spelling of their names (Indonesians do that a lot... So they can give you crapy service at the LIDO, where they dont get tips and good service at the Dinning Room where their salaries come from.

They work terrible shifts and are treated the worse possible way.

Even their food and restaurant is different than where the staff eats.

  2. Carnival as most of the other cruiselines are foreign-flagged ships so most of the employees are from non-American countries.  NCL-America is an exception and it only sails around the Hawaiian islands and follows the laws of the US.

Generally, the American employees of the major lines work in the entertainment area (musicians and dancers) or as kids' programs employees.

  3. USC could be the University of Southern California or it could be the University of South Carolina.

  4. did you get good service from these waiters and staff?

    USC probably is From USA.
