I was on a cruise and our waiter gave me this fruit that looked like a white rasberry with blaack dots on it?

He said it was either Japanese or Chinese? I'm not sure what it's called. Can anybody help me?

It's a berry that grows on a tree. My grandmother had a 20 foot tree in her yard that had those berries & some were even an inch to an inch and a quarter long. Produced berries for years ( edible ) in western PA. I don't know the name but mabye this will help you.
