I was on depo provera for 3 years... how long til I can get pregnant?

Question

I started depo when I was 15 to prevent un wanted pregnancy. Now I just turned 19 and me and my fiance want to have a baby. I got my last shot om december 16 2007 so it should have wore off by late february. Its now august. Does anyone have any similar success stories or any advice to help speed the process I e heard it can take years to get depo from your system. Please help me. We are ready to have a baby. Thanx in advance

My one friend who was on it stopped the shots in jan of this year and got pregnant the next month so i would honestly talk to you doctor about it

Once you menstruate again you should be fertile. Depo stopped my period all together. I don't want a kid though, so I don't have experience with it's effects ending for fertility, but the key to it all is the egg in the right place for the sperm to fertilize...

I dont think any one can really answer your question on how long it can take.

In my experience, I was on the shot for a very short time, we tried to concieve for 5 years before finally succeeding...

I really believe that the reason we did concieve was because we were told we couldnt have kids more than likley and I gave up.  Once I stopped worrying about it, I had no problems.

I dont know if the shot was my problem or not, but the best advice I can give you is to try and not worry so much about it...stress can and does effect many womens fertility.  Also, dont push it, because that to can cause un needed stress while trying to concieve!

I was on the depo shot for 4 years and once i stopped taking it i became pregnant 11 months later.

im currently on the depo shot too. when i went to go && get mines they told me that the shot takes from about 6 months to a year to wear off. but if i were you i would keep trying to conceive.

Don't WORRY I AM IN SIMILAR SITUATIONN I TOOK DE-POO FOR SOMETIME AND NOW I'M TRYING TO GET PREG BUT DOCTOR SAY THAT DE-PO TAKES UP TO 2 YEARS TO WEAR OFF BUT AM NOW IN METFORMIN U SHOULD TALK TO UR DOCTOR ABOUT  CLOMID AND PROVERA TOO GOOD LUCK AND DONT WORRY THE DAY WILL COME BABY DUST FOR U

Some people have trouble for up to a year and a half after.

I was on it, and it took me a year and a half to get my regular cycle back.

Getting on that shot was the worst decision I ever made.
