I was on the OHL priority selection 2005 but wasn't picked, so do I have any chances of getting scouting OHL?

2005: I got a phone call 1 week before the draft, a letter from Petersbourgh Petes midseason, 4 OHL packages in the mail and my AAA coach at that time said he received phones calls from London Knights, St. Michaels.

I have been offered to play on a team NAHL tier 2, and I have been invited to play in a futures camp this August USHL tier 1 (so maybe play tier 1... later ... they are looking). I have also been offered to play OPJHL tier 2, so what are my chances to move on to OHL.

I was at a showcase this past spring in Canada and I had a card given to me that a BCHL team was interested in me and asked for all my information phone # etc.

So I feel I am getting serious looks, and I really want to play OHL. I know I need to get scouted.

I feel I was right there and it slipped away, what can I do? I want to give it my all until I turn 20 years old.

  1. You need to get a hold of a manager of some sort - perhaps your AAA coach can recommend someone who can handle you a little.  You need exposure - but - the needle in the haystack syndrome will slow down your progress.  Scouts listen to key folks about key players.  If you call a team and ask them to scout you - your request will go unheard.  A reputable manager/agent calls a team and the scout gets on a plane.  It's that simple.  You need an 'objective' manager who has experience getting kids to the next level.  Having stated that - the other poster's comment about D1 university in the US is a good suggestion.  If you haven't already - I would suggest getting in touch with NCAA clearinghouse @ https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/...  - contact them and get the ball rolling for your eligibility.  That way - college scouts can come and see what you've got without hesitation.  Good Luck!

  2. I don't want to be mean, but would know better than anyone here, since you have been in contact with all these people. Have you checked out the American college system because you could get a good education and play some real competitive hockey. Having said that you look like you've got a shot if some of these team are interested, good luck!
