  1. are there any school regulations that would require you to actually give them the money or to actually join the 2 events as a single one?

cuz otherwise just continue doing your own. it's a fund raiser for less fortunate people, not a popularity contest! so tell them to go pound sand.

if there's nothing that requires you to join together, i would report them to the student association, or fraternity/sorority center or whatever governing student body you have cuz what they're asking for is kinda unethical.  if your group/org is planning a fundraiser and you  already have certain plans on how the $ is spent [could be buying supplies or food or blankets] or already have a previous commitment to a homeless organization [like a local shelter] then you shouldn't have to "just give it up" or change the way the funds are to be spend just cuz the fraternity is asking for them.

make sure there aren't any homeless guys in the frat, maybe that's why they're doing a fundraising! =P  jk!

  2. do it on your own who says only one person can donate and im sure there is more than one group of homeless people in your neighborhood if not two seperate groups can still do the same thing

  3. Either do that, or change the dates of your fundraiser, (homeless people need help throughout the year) or hold the fundraiser for another needy charity in your community.

  4. Remember that the priority is the cause you want to support -- helping people who are homeless. The priority is not whether or not your fundraising event gets to be a "dating game".

Many people plan a fundraising event without first making sure no one else is doing something similar, and then have to abandon their original plans. You don't want to do an event that is similar to anyone else's -- you want to be unique.

Time to bring together the group that is organizing this event that you are helping with and brainstorming new ideas. Go through the resolved questions in Yahoo!Answers Community Service -- you will find a plethora of fundraising ideas.

  5. How about a Purse Party fundraiser! They are a lot of fun and we offer them for all ages! We sell high fashion purses and jewelry. Not the knock offs though. If interested contact me and I will find a consultant to do the fundraiser for you!

  6. I work with a company that helps people set up efficient and low - cost fund raisers, both web based and offline. I'd be honored to assist you guys in raising the needed funds. Please feel free to email at your convenience for more details...

    Good luck!
