I have broncitise (spelling) and tonsalits (spelling). and a sinius infection and an ear infection, my doctor prescribed me antibotics and cheratussin with codene to help my cough and help me sleep. Well they told me to take 10 ML every 4 hours. Well I did four hours ago and it did nothing for me. It's late I will call my phamisist or doctor tomorrow and ask. But just for tonight so i can sleep would it be ok if i took maybe 15 ML. I haven't sleeped in days because i am in a lot of pain. I just want to be able to sleep with out waking up from coughing. What do you think?

  1. I do not recommend that you deviate from your physician's specific instructions on the use of a medication.  If you have any questions pertaining to this matter, I strongly recommend that you contact your treating physician regarding this matter.

  2. Maybe it would be alright just for tonight. But i wouldn't do anymore the 15 ML. They probably prescribed you a certain amount for a reason. Defintly call that doctor tomorrow though. Best of luck. And boy all those infections poor girl.

  3. no.never use more than per scribed

  4. No.

    Cheratussin w/ Codeine

is a CIV drug. (Class 4)

It is regulated severely by the FDA for a reason.

If your not responding to the recommended dosage, it is not recommended to exceed it.

Talk to your doctor about something else.

Side effects will significantly increase if you take more than prescribed.
