Allah detests those who yawn? Why? Also it goes into personal hygeine and says to wipe with your left hand--I tried, failed, and ended up getting some on my arm X( I am not being gross, but honest!!!! I can't do ANYTHING left handed!

  1. Thank you for your question,

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying, "Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning, so if someone sneezes and then praises Allah, then it is obligatory on every Muslim who heard him, to say: May Allah be merciful to you (yarhamuka Allah). But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so one must try one's best to stop it, if one says 'Ha' when yawning, Satan will laugh at him."

It is reported in several Prophetic hadiths that Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning. However, it is not a sin that one yawns especially when the act is beyond his/her control.

Edit: Keep in mind that Qur'an is our first Shar'iah's source of knowledge. THEN the hadiths and then Ijma(consensus of Islamic scholars). So, WE HAVE to respect hadiths unlike some of the answerers asking you to follow QUR'AN Only. It is just like Qur'an tells us to do one thing and the Hadiths tell us HOW to do that thing(eg. prayers).

As for the second question, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided us to use our left hands when answering the call of nature, if one needs to do so to make sure of complete cleanliness.

  2. it's not that you can't yawn, you should just cover it. as for wiping w/ the left hand is b/c as muslims we only eat w/ our right hands. so as you've found out it can be messy so why would you want to eat w/ the same hand. which is why muslims only shake hands w/ the right hand. anyway you'll get used to it. just practice and inshallah you'll get the hang of it.

also hadith and qu'ran go together so you can't have one w/o the other.

  3. Yawn is natural. science tells when your brain needs oxygen you yawn but what is not liked in Islam is yawning with making noices and wide mouth open. if you are yawing, keep your hand on your mouth, try not to open your mouth so wide and say, Astagfir ullah. If you notice, devil images been created byhuman, they usually have a mouth open, like the way we yawn. for example, scream mask.

So  you need to take care of such stuff and using left hand is for hygenic reasons because you are supposed to eat with the right hand. now imagine, using the same hand for eating and washing. thats gross.

so keep practicing. you will be used too of it. to have something you need to lose or work hard sometimes ~! :)

  4. Have you read the hadith that says if a fly falls in to your drink, dip it's other wings then drink up?

    Yawning is from the devil.

  5. Seriously do you think God needs to direct in man is how to wipe his butt?

Do you also believe that there is a way to wash your nose when you awake because devils slept in your nose?

Do you believe as Muhammad taught that if you drink date juices you will not be harmed by poison?

First before following the teachings of a dead man test this self called prophet of God with the literal word of God to see if he is in agreement with the true word of God.

A prophet even from the time of Moses had ot be in agreement with God's word and with the previous prophets of God.

Deut.13: 1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

    2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

A prophet of God must be in agreement with the words of the prophets and the known word of God.

1John 2: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Anyone who claims to be a prophet of God must agree Jesus is the Christ the Son of God who is our savior.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

Gal. 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If an angel or a man preach a different gospel he is not of God.

  6. Allah does not detest them, but he dislikes the act of yawning. Not because it might be bad, but because Satan himself laughs at those who cannot control it.

Take it slowly. I couldn't do anything with my left hand either, but I learned. Now I feel much better knowing that I eat with one hand and clean with the other.

  7. Yawning is a sign of laziness. You should try to suppress the yawn or cover your mouth when yawning. Afterwards, say "A'outhu Billahi Minesh Shaytan Ar Rajeem." Which means, "I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the accursed." Shaytan loves to see us be lazy so you want to seek refuge in Allah. Also, Shaytan enters the mouth of a person who yawns.

As for cleaning yourself with your left hand, you'll get used to it after a while. The right hand is symbolic as the people that will enter Jannah will get their book of deeds in their right hand and the right hand is used to count and say thikr (rememberence of Allah). We also use the right hand only to eat with and offer something to people with.

The left is used to clean after the bathroom and to clean the nose with. So mostly, disgusting things. lol..Just wash well after and you're fine.

Just keep practicing and the more you do it, the easier it will get Insha'Allah.

    Nichole

  8. it's not about yawning , it means that when u yawn u should put ur hand on ur mouth

  9. Yawning is a natural bodily function of a human. Do not follow Hadith. Follow what is written in the Quran. God gave us both Left and Right hands, so use them both. .

  10. this is found only in hadith, books, and not in Glorious Quran.

Allah does not detest yawn nor using left hand for eating purpose
