  1. if you r having any concerns like this just to be on the safe side call your vet..better safe then sorry!

  2. this has nothing to do with her hooves - if it was from her hooves you would feel heat in her hooves, not her leg.

it could be a number of things from her tendons to her fetlocks etc. Did you feel them right after you rode? if so i'd check them the next time you come out and see if there is any heat.

if she was off in any sort of way she would show it, i'd come back the next day and feel her legs once more - if theres still heat i'd call a vet out immediatly. We cant give a proper diagnose because we cant see your horse or her leg.

i agree that you should cold hose it. See if she can last 10 minutes, some horses cant. but i'd check it out the next day and see if theres still heat.

  3. If the heat is in her leg, I doubt it's coming from her hoof. Most likely just slighlt over worked her tendons. If she's not lame and there is no swelling,  first hose it with cold water for about 10 minutes, then rub it down really well with liniment. She should be fine.

If she's lame at all or has any swelling go ahead and do as above but call your vet. He might (depending on the degree of swelling and/or lameness) want to see her or might just prescribe wrapping and stall rest. If you've never wrapped a leg don't try to do it yourself as improper wrapping can cause more harm than good.

  4. You didn't state where on the leg the heat was coming from. Also don't be fooled by the sun's ability to make the surface of the hair warm. Make sure it is heat coming from the leg itself. If it is it has nothing to do with the activity although the activity could worsen condition if the horse is getting inflamed. It is more than likely a fever in the part of the leg that's hot. Caused by an infection caused by laminitis or a foreign object in the leg. Or it could be what they call in some parts of the country, "gravel." Again you didn't provide enough information.

  5. It  depends where abouts in the leg the heat is coming from, if theres a paticular place where it might feel hot he/she might have hit their leg and its caused swelling.

  6. not enough information.  call a vet.

  7. call the vet
