Question:

I was running and i get this pain in my side. what's the deal?

about a mile into it. It's like just to the left of my naval. it was hurting with every step. didn't feel like a cramp it was a strong dull pain with each step.

  1. Almost everyone has that problem. It's your organs being ripped up and down (ok, not literally, it just feels like they're ripping). Eventually, your stomach will tighten up and that won't happen. Until then, ENDURE! haha good luck!


  2. That sounds like a stitch. There are two types of pain people normally get while running, cramps and stitches. Cramps are muscle pains that occur when your muscles are not getting enough oxygen to perform aerobic respiration and instead must revert to anaerobic respiration which causes a build up of lactic acid in the muscle tissue.

    Stitches on the other hand (what you probably have) are a pain caused when your heart is pumping blood so fast that your liver can't filter it fast enough and swells as excess blood pools up in it.

    Neither is serious and the best thing to do is keep running until you get over it.
