  1. Most likely when the doctors clear you for duty.  Could be a week or two or five or six months.  I recommend that you take advantage of a good thing and just enjoy your recovery time.  You'll have plenty of opportunity to be a warrior.  Good luck to you pardner.

  2. You have to get clearance from your doctor to return to duty.

  3. As soon as your recovery is over and you are fit for duty again they will send you back..... good luck, speedy recovery, you should be back in no time.

  4. Sounds like you will be missed in the unit.

Many moons ago (1980) my Father in Law (Retired Navy) had a similar issue and the Navy sent him to Ft. Miley, a VA Hospital in San Francisco. The Surgeon that performed the operation was in private practice at Stanford. In other words this guy was outstanding in his field.

I do not recall the total time he was in but it was around 2-3 weeks. Once home he was back at it in a month or so. He was over 60 and healing a lot slower than you likely will PLUS we are talking 28 years of additional advances since then.

I went to visit him after a Drill in uniform. That was a big hit with all the WWII guy's. The point of that is if you are in a VA facility and any of your buds are able to visit ask them to put on the Greens. It's a damned big deal at those Hospitals. Lot's of guy's that had fun in

    Viet Nam there now!

    Good Luck

  5. You have to wait until your doctor clears you.  Once you are medically cleared, you will get a letter from your doctor (or ask him for it) to bring to your command to return to duty.

  6. Was you discharged? or just sent on condolences leave or limited duty?

If you were discharged you will have to go through the whole enlistment process all over and seek advice from a recruiter.

If you are on some sort of medical hold or convalescence then see your base personnel and find out if they have changed your orders. You will have to be medically cleared for full duty before you return or get new orders.
