The employer wants the narrative from the military due to my reason for separation from the Army. Where do I find this or how do I get this?

  1. they probably want your dd214, it is everything you ever need to show employers.  you should have gotten it the same time you signed out and turned in your ID card

  2. If you don't have a copy of your DD-214, go to this web site and apply for it.  Follow the directions EXPLICITLY.  Go to the bottom of the page and click on the red bar "REQUEST MILITARY RECORDS"

    http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrec...

    Good luck!

  3. Hopefully you also made a copy of your service record and military records too...before you got out.

  4. Yes, the dd214 is exactly what they need, and you should have gotten one at your EAOS.  Its just about the most important piece of paper out there as far as military service in concerned.  You use this for employers to verify your veteran status, you use it for VA benefits, including home loans, medical, etc.  It can also be used as verification to join organizations such as the VFW and American Legion.  A lot of people get their original verified (copied) by their local government office just in case you loose it, which makes it a certified copy, but with the risk of identity theft (this does make it a public document) I would advise against this now.

  5. He probably wants your DD214, or your discharge papers.  You should have got this at your final out when you finished clearing.
