I was side-swiped by a big, long semi-trailer today on the highway. i pulled over but the truck driver kept on going. i took off after him and got his licence plate and even got in front of him and put on my hazards and signaled for him to pull over. He did not, i gave up and called the cops. Should his insurance pay for it? Or what about his company? Do you think he will get fired?

  1. His insurance should DEFINITELY have to pay for his negligence.  However, you should have stayed on his tail until the police caught up with you, and forced him to pull over.  He is guilty of a hit-and-run.  Unfortunately, now it is your word against his.

    Good luck.

  2. The company he hauls for would have to pay because while he's under dispatch for them their insurance is primary. If this is his first offense he may not be fired.

  3. should have follow til the cops came.... its call hit and run... let the cops work it out and yes they should pay for it but with out a cop and without him stopping kind of hard to prove it

  4. He will be fired, if you got the license plate they can find out what driver drove it that day and see if there's any damaged on the truck.

  5. He'll be in a lot of trouble by the time this is through.  It'll be the company's insurance you want to go after.  The cops will nail this guy for hit & run and once the company's dispatch gets wind of all this, he'll probably be fired.

Don't let me get started about truck drivers.  It'd be like ... This one time, on the highway .... this truck driver wasn't paying attention to the traffic in front of him ... so he swirved into my lane ...  GRRRR!!!!!
