  1. At this point something is clearly wrong.  First you should confirm that you really filed. Second did you have the required $3,000 income.  If you have changed your address since you filed, the check was sent back and you need to file an IRS form 8822.  There could be a dozen other reasons why the check has not come but those are a start.

  2. A lot of people have thought they were getting direct deposit but for whatever reason aren't, so are assuming they'll get it earlier than they really are.  For example, if you had a tax prep place do your return and had your fees taken out of your refund, you aren’t eligible for direct deposit.

Check your bank statement from when the original refund came - if it says "US Treasury" you should be OK for direct deposit as long as that account is still open, and you didn’t split your refund into multiple accounts. Otherwise, you’ll get a paper check

Since the first round of direct deposits is done, it sounds likely that you'll be getting a paper check.

The other possibility is that you filed too late for your return to be processed by the 4/15 cutoff to make the first round of stimulus payments, or that you aren't eligible for a check.  You say you just started to live alone - were you claimed as a dependent for 2007?  Then you aren't eligible.

  3. Are you sure you qualify or are you assuming that since you filed a tax return you would automatically get at rebate payment.

check IRS website www.irs.gov use the stimulus calculator to  verify you qualify, if you qualify it will provide you the amount and when it will be mailed.

apparently you were not ready financially to move on your own.
