I live in texas , there was a swarm after I ran over it with the lawn mower. It stung fast but left no stinger. Small and looks like a little bee except it has a golden tint to it, abdomond has small black gold stripes.

  1. Sounds like a yellow jacket wasp!  Take a look at the photo at this web site:  http://wasps.ucr.edu/waspid.htmll

When I was a kid, my father plowed into a yellow jacket nest in a garden plot.  All six members of the family had to take shelter in the cab our pickup truck until the hornets calmed down!  The garden hadn't been used for several years allowing the hornets to set up house keeping in a rodent burrow!

  2. look it up on the internet

  3. yeah that is a yellow Jacket, I'm allergic to them so I know.  They have a sharp gold tint to them, and their nests are around ground level.  They are extremely aggressive when they feel their nests are in danger.
