  1. You might have a slight allergy to wasps. It is the same for me too. Try taking benedryl, it seems to help me.

  2. try benydyl allergic reactions respond well dr. has me give dose immedatly if kids get bit

  3. If you began noticing more pain about 20 hours after the sting, it could be due to infection setting in.  The swelling could be from the inflammation from allergic reaction to the sting, or could also occur if there is an infection.  Wasp stings can be quite nasty.  If there is much redness with the swelling and pain, see a doctor to make sure it is not infected.  Overnight, make an outline on your skin around the red area, and that way you can tell if the redness is progressing and can show the doctor when you go.  Try some ice packs and some advil tonight to get some relief.

Usually a severe allergic reaction to a wasp sting would occur within the first hour of getting stung, but sometimes it can take 4 hours.

It is common for a local (area where stung) reaction to occur within 12 to 36 hours of the initial sting, but symptoms of an infection will also begin to be noticed around that same time frame if it is an infection.

Make sure that you are up to date on all your tetanus shots.

Check to see that the stinger is out.

If it itches, you can take some benadryl to help relieve itching.

Ibuprofen (ADVIL) is good for the pain.

Ice packs will also help sooth the pain and swelling---20 minutes every hour, but put a cloth between the skin and the ice.

If the pain becomes severe or the swelling or any redness progresses rapidly, go the emergency room and don't wait to see the doctor in his office.

  4. Your body's having an allergic reaction to the wasp venom.  Take Benadryl and put some ice on it.  If it were a life-threatening reaction you would have probably had severe symptoms much sooner.

  5. I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuts or as long as a weak
