Question:

I was stung...?

I was stung in the dressing room of my ballet studio by an insect about an inch long, mostly black, and it stung me twice and was still alive to fly outside afterwards. The insect had wings and could fly pretty quickly, and (like I said) it flew outside of the studio before I could figure out what it was. It wasn't round like a bumble bee, more like the shape of a wasp.

Can anyone help me figure out what kind of insect stung me? I'm thinking it's either a bizarre wasp or maybe even a hornet because it hurt terribly.

  1. Wasps come in many configurations.  Robber flies also bite and would leave red marks.  Wasps can sting you as many times as they want.

  3. Most likely a mud dauber wasp, could be some other kind of flying insect though. are you sure it stung you and didn't bite you? It could of been a bumblebee though.
