I was taking off my co2 tank and all of a sudden, all the co2 went rushing out, what happened?

The O-ring was broken. Was it just a faulty o - ring or was it something else?

I'd bet it's just the O-ring. Just replace the O-ring and s***w the tank onto your gun. Then take the tank off. If it leaks again then your tank is somehow busted, but if not then you're good.

Also, you should think about buying a HPA tank. They're much better.
