  1. The commonest base for any kind of special is a VW Beetle, the engine and rear wheels come out as a unit and the front suspension is simple torsion bars and easy to raise or lower.

If you are going to off road you should make sure you have a secure race seat with a race harness and a steel roll over cage.

  2. Hey you can dream big, yes may-may, and it is possible. I'm only 17 and I want to do this after thinking how much I'll learn and the fun factor. Don't worry if people laugh at you, its natural that most people think this is immpossible. Even my own family laughed at me when I told them the first time. But I finnaly got some support, and am still researching on "kit car building". I've been to alot of mechanics to help me do this, and looked around for random parts to see if they are availible.

I'm designing my own chassis, a very simple one. You can get one ready built, but I want it to be "homemade", and with those plans I go to the welder and work with him to make it.

As I found out, you can't use any engine, well you can but it is much easier if its a *carbuerator* (spelling) engine and not fuel injected, and I was told to go look for old engines: 65' VW BUG, and some 1.8L Subaru.

I want it real wheel drive, and so to make my life 1000x easier I'm putting the engine in the back. If I put it in the front it has to be front wheel drive. Other than that you can find all sorts of parts everywhere, suspension, steering, wheels, brakes. You get books on how to build your own car on amazon. Find a mechanic as well to help you first.

When you asked: "how do you make a homemade vehicle" the answer is not that simple, it goes into ALOT of catogories, each one important as the other. Don't feel shy to do this, ever. Its good to think outside the box.
