Okay, I really wanted to study abroad this summer in either Greece, Spain, Italy, or the Netherlands. I really want to find a program that would allow me also get a high school English credit and Government credit. I will be 17 years old this summer. Is there some kind of univeristy that does this program or something? I'm really NOT trying to stay with a host family, just a dorm or something. I would be grateful for any help. The best answer WILL get 10 points. I'll choose it tomorrow :)

  1. Re: the university run programs - If you have permission of your high school and your parents, a university *may* allow you to do an exchange with them, but in reality - probably not. Those programs state that you need to be enrolled as a college student. So I'm not sure that's going to work for you.

Still, if you find a program that appeals, you can email them and ask. These tend to be offered as continuing education credits, and you'd need to look at each one, ask them if you can participate, and talk them over with your guidance counsellor, to see which might fit your need to get those high school English and Government credits. You can start with the progams run via NYU, just to get you started.

NYU also offers programs, in NY, specifically for high school students. Maybe a summer in NY would be an option? BU also offers programs for high school students. But again, neither offer summer exchanges that are supposed to be for high school students, and everything they offer for high school students is in the uni's home city, not abroad.

One of the things I recommend you do is look up some reputable universities in the countries you're interested in, and check to see if those unis offer summer programs for high school students. Check directly, and see what you find, if anything.
