I was thinking of the idea of a wildcard?

Whether you like the idea of a wildcard driver in the Chase or not, tell me the best way of determining who gets it. Most wins? Most laps led? Most poles? No such thing as a wrong idea or opinion.

  1. Just for fun, we could make it the person who has caused the most wrecks.

  2. Thats a good idea VP . Maybe next year when your in The #48 you can tell it to Brian ! When is your merchandise going to be on sale ?

    EDIT : GO # 84 !!!!!

  3. I think it would be nice to have it as most laps led—that would be the wild card.  11 make it into the chase from points and the 12th is the wild card.  If the person who has led the most laps is already in the chase then it will funnel down to the person who led the most laps who did not make it into the chase.  Sorta like that…--

  4. I like the idea of most poles.

The other two would probably be in already but if not those would work too.

  5. most top 15 finishes

  6. I am not sure a wild card would work.  If you have the most wins, chances you are already in the chase.  Just because you have the most poles does not necessarily mean you deserve to be in the chase.  I think maybe letting more people (say 15) get into the chase.  That way there could be more variation in who could win the championship.

  7. That might not be a bad idea. I'd like to see most laps led. Look how often a driver leads almost every lap then either something happens or he gets wrecked and doesn't get the win. Nascar changes everything else so why not add the wild card!  Interesting question...have a star!  =o`)

  8. Well most laps led and most wins would probably already be in the chase.

How about if his first name starts with E and his last name starts with S?    Or if his number falls between #18 and #20???  Would that be good???

We could put all that criteria on a piece of paper and put all the papers in a bag and shake it up and whoever's we pull out that one is the wild card.

Do you like my right idea and opinion?

  9. But Tom there are already 7 Wild card drivers in the chase now.    LOL

We can make the wildcard driver the most overrated driver of the year.

  10. Lets give someone a fighting chance!!

    Most DNF's gets wildcard.

  11. Take the 13-35 place cars and and in a race kinda like the bud shoot out and let them race for it

  12. I like your thinking, Tom,  but I don't think it would work.  It would be too unfair to the drivers who have fought, clawed and scrambled their way into the top 12.  JMHO

  13. Great idea Tom, no wonder you are the VP of this forum! Let's see, if I had my way I would like to see the driver who won the most races that is not already qual'd for the chase...I think it'd be a shame for a team to have 3-4 wins and be left out. But of course that's just my opinion.

  14. Maybe the guys 13th - 20th in driver's points can guess a number, whoever's the closet get the 13th spot in the Chase. If there's a tie, they go again.

  15. Most  Laps

  16. sure then we could add a lucky dog entry

    then maybe fan vote

    then a foot race.

lets have all 43 cars in the Chase while were at it..

10 was good, 12 is too much 13 is dumb.

  17. Great question, here is a couple of "just thinking out loud" ideas.

    1. How about making rookie of the year points end at race 26, then let the leader in the rookie of the year in (if he is not already).  Gets the rookie some experience right of the bat being in the chase.  The whole "develop the sport" idea that NASCAR could run with.

    OR

    2. Take the cars in owners points 36-43, let the fans vote for which one of those should be in the chase.  The vote would obviously have to be regulated very closely, someway to make it official, like the driver that gets voted into the All-Star race.

    Just some ideas.......
