  1. You need a passport no matter where you're coming from.

If your stay will be less than six months, you DON'T plan on working, and you're from Canada, the USA, Japan or the European Union, you won't need a visa.

    If you are either...

    a) planning on finding work there, or

    b) from any countries OTHER than those listed above, or

    c) staying for longer that six months

... you WILL need a visa.

Visas can be obtained by contacting the Costa Rican embassy or consulate in your country.

    Hope this helped!!

  2. passport. visa to stay for a while.

  3. Heading to Costa Rica you need a passport, regardless of what country you are coming from. And leaving the country there is an exit fee (you have to show your passport when paying)  and that has to be paid before hopping on any plane. Make sure you get to the airport and allow time to pay it. The lines can be very long. Nothing is worse missing your flight.

Whatever you do, DON/T lose your passport, otherwise your vacation/trip may be extended by customs officials, which can turn a great trip into a nightmare real fast!  You will have to show the original several times before leaving.

It is best to make a good, clean and colored copy of your passport when you go out and about. Keep your original locked in a hotel safe until such time you are ready to leave.

  4. If you are a Canadian, American just your passport is fine. If you are Nicaraguan or Colombian you need visa

  5. I'm pretty sure all you'll need is a passport.. Visas are used if you plan on living there for a while.. I hope this helps you..

  6. I assume you mean whether you need to get a visa before travelling.  That depends on your nationality.  If you are from Canada, Japan, the U.S. or the EU you just need to arrive with a valid passport and they will give you a tourist visa when you enter the country.   If you are not from the above countries, you will have to check with the CR consulate.

  7. just a passport...a visa is if u wanna be there for 6 months or more.

  8. You can stay in Costa Rica for up to 90 days with an up to date passport.  Once your 90 days are up, you are required to leave the country for 24 hours before coming back.  Most people who stay more than 90 days go to Panama for the weekend to comply with the law and then stay 90 more days or whatever.  I know because I have been a permanent tourist for almost 4 years now.  If you need any more information about Costa Rica, go to the TicosLand website.

  9. If you are traveling from the US, you will just need a passport.  They don't require you to purchase a Visa but there is an exit tax of $26.00 you'll have to pay in order to leave - it's kind of like a backwards Visa (creates revenue for CR from the tourist without the messy paperwork of a Visa)
