  1. You can pay more money to increase the SGLI up to $400,000 and there are third party policies made for the military that offer more.  However, the third party ones might have clauses the SGLI doesn't have.


  2. You can go up to $400,000 with the SGLI.    If you want more than that you need to buy a civilian policy.  Make sure it does not have a war clause exclusion in it in case you die on duty.  

  3. if your current life insurance policy is $200,00.

    The current SGLI(Service member Groupl Life Insurance) is currently $400,000. The military will cover you for upto that much while on active duty.

    This is entitled to all military personnel.

    so if you have a $200,000 policy, then yes. you could double your life insurance.
