you have to have your wisdom teeth pulled out, whether they have come in or not. In other words, I was told that they have to cut up into your gums and get the wisdom teeth out. Please, someone tell me, is this true or not? I don't mind getting a tooth pulled that is already there and visible....but having someone cut open my gum and jerk out a tooth.......that's just plain evil.

  1. thats not always true because im getting mine out AFTER braces...but listen to your ortho cause he might have to have them out...(i came at a right time) Im getting my braces august 12

  2. That's not true at all, I've never heard of that one or had it done when I got my braces. Total myth.

  3. I had braces and didnt have to have any teeth pulled out.  Although I did have to sleep with a head brace on for a few moths.

  4. That is not true I had braces when I was in 7th grade and had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 24, yeah it took them that long to come in.  Yes sometimes they do have to cut into your gums to get them out, but you will be put under so you won't even feel it

  5. To answer your question, it could be very true in your case. Shown from x-rays, your wisdom teeth could be growing in, and they could be impacted, which means there is not enough room for them to grow in straight, and in order to make room, they are going to push your other teeth out of the way- to fix this problem, it would be best to get your wisdom teeth out immediately. Believe it or not, it's 100% better to have your wisdom teeth removed in their very early stages of growing because they are not fully rooted to your jaw. If you wait until they are showing, it may be too late because they would have already started to fuze with your jaw. To remove wisdom teeth then, would be extremely painful. Chances are, if they do have to open your gums now, the incision would not be too deep. Think about it, would you rather them have to scrape away at your jawbone to remove a tooth, or shallowly cut into your gum and remove it while it's still easy?

just keep in mind, better sooner than later !!
