Nope, pure rumor.  Hopefully there won't be a repeat, either!

A MUCH smarter idea than an absurd giveaway would be to invest that money into infrastructure improvements.  The $165 BILLION that this foolish giveaway cost could have been used to replace over 1000 of the most dangerous bridges in the country and thousands of miles of decrepit highways and created upwards of 25,000 new jobs.  THAT kind of "Economic Stimulus" plan makes sense and a good chunk of the expense comes back in the form of taxes paid by the new jobholders and higher profits in the companies hired to do the jobs.

You heard correctly that they are considering it. The idea isn't dead yet but don't get your hopes up because at this point it's still just a dream. I raed they MIGHT vote on it in September.

"passage of the measure would depend on the recognition by the president of the United States that the American people are having a hard time." that is what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says but "President Bush has said he wants to see how effective the first stimulus package is before lending his support to another one." So as you can see, the president is not on board. I don't see where they think they can come up with the money for this.

No.  Some politicians have talked about doing another vote- buying giveaway, but nothing has been formally introduced.
