how can i clean off the superglue, if there is a way at all?

its not that its sticky, its completely dry

its just that when i put the glasses on there's these blurry spots where the glue is

if i got the superglue spots off of them, then my lenses would be completely clear

i didn't think that there was a way to get the superglue off, but i wanted to make sure..

  1. Sounds very difficult. Try nail polish remover or eucalyptus oil.

  2. Hmmm... this is a tricky one, I would try Paint thinner, but to be safe.

Try finding fingernail polish remover with ACETONE. I use Acetone at work and it takes off everything from oil, to cement type material. This is all I can really think of, most fingernail polish removers dont come with Acetone now because it is dangerous to inhale, but I am sure some still make it with it, just read the label, most will say "No Acetone!", find one that doesnt, and put it on a piece of soft cloth and rub away, the Acetone will evaporate very quickly, so you will need to keep re-wetting the cloth, this work on a DVD boxed set I had, two sides were super-glued together, I pried them apart and used the fingernail polish remover and it took a little bit but I got it off. Hope this helps good luck! :)

Might want to call and make sure that this will not harm anything on the lenses before you do this though! I am not sure what they are made of and if there are special chemical's on there.

  3. this happened to me too.

I heard that nail polish remover worked, so i tried it.  But i soaked the lenses too long, and the acetone (or whatever the main ingredient is) ate away the plastic lenses !!!

So , needless to say, i ruined them.

Lesson - Don't soak them in nail polish remover.  If you use it, don't let them soak.

  4. Non Acetone nail polish remover should take it off without hurting your lenses unless you have anti reflective coating on it. IF you are scared tak them to where you got them! They would have ALL OFF for optical use and it would take it off. Just so you know I did this for another person this week AND IT DID WORK. You have to know how to use the ALL OFF! Unfortunately  acetone can crackle your lenses if they are made of polycarbonate so unless you know do not do it.

  5. Sorry dear...playing around with super glue on glasses almost always ends up the same way.

Once it has dried and hardened on there, there isn't anything to get it off.

All Off ain't gonna help now.

    You need new lenses.

  6. next time try an eyeglass repair kit. there very cheap. hard to use right but in the end you don't wind up with super glue all over your lenses. spray some wd 40 on it and try scraping it off with a butter knife or s***w driver. the wd 40 will allow less scratches. but next time don't do that. :o)
