I was verbally insulted by the manager of a small independent cafe with no head office. What can I do?

The manager has refused to answer letters. She will not apologize or refund me. What can I do?

  1. Tell all your friends not to patronize that cafe and have them tell their friends and so on and so on.... With no business they will go under.


  2. Dont go back and tell or your friens and family. Word of mouth is everyting to small places so if you tell people how bad it is the saying goes i think those who like a place tell only a few but a bad place tell many

I'd go back and stand your ground at the front of the queue and state your point.  Even better to do this in front of a queue of people and tell them, in front of the manageress, what she did.  Then tell the Manageress that you will be back the day after and the day after that until you get a refund. Remember that you are the customer and should be valued.  Cafe's are 10 a penny and other people will stop patronising that establishment if they see an altercation taking place.

  7. CONTACT your local trading standards and also the council as they have to licence the place for inspection purposes

  8. get over it! my god man its a cafe not a bloody chain store, just leave the poor women alone, shes busy enough without dealing with petty people like you. i mean come on how much could you have spent in a cafe? no more than £10 so leave it be and stop moaning!

  9. Go in again - order 3 cups of coffee and then knock them all over the counter "by accident".  Don't pay for them - insist that it was the fault of the staff.

  22. I wish you had elaborated a bit more, but there is something that you can do.

    For anyone in a business that is specifically customer service driven (such as a cafe) it is a terrible attitude for this manager to take.  It doesn't matter that it's "only a cafe and you only probably spent $10", etc.  That is besides the point.  Anyone in customer service should be going out of their way to make sure that each and every person who walks into their business leaves happy.  Even if they think the customer was dead wrong!

    And old saying from a marketing class I took one time:  When you keep a customer happy, perhaps 1 to 3 people will tell their friends and family about you.  Make them UNHAPPY, and there is no telling HOW MANY people will hear about it.

    Once you begin telling folks about the terrible customer service from this manager, believe me, her business will suffer.  Word of mouth is THE most powerful advertisment, and this manager just basically screwed herself.

    Remember if this is how she treated you, it is also how she treats others.  Stay away from her establishment, and just remember to let everyone know how you were treated.  She is her own worst enemy and won't last very long.
