  1. that sucks. is is an extraordinary city to visit.

  2. Really?

Everytime I go to Vancouver (or just about anywhere in  BC, for that matter) I'm treated with kindness, attention, politeness...

    I love it there.

People have always been friendly and gone out of their way to help.

I guess, like everywhere, there are all kinds of people and you met the ones that aren't that nice.

    Too bad.

  3. vancouver is a fabulous city with"almost anything you want" to offer. if you were to familiarize yourself with it's geography in terms of districts you might have more of what you enjoy at your disposal.

quite a lot has changed since expo  86. more of the world has discovered that destination, including the more seedy criminal element. so if you were to learn the particular parts of the city to stay away from you'd enjoy it more, unhampered.

  4. Hello:

I am sorry people were rude to you.  I have always lived in Ontario up until last year and I found people in BC to be rude and not as fast thinking as those from Ontario.

You are correct.  I lived there for 6 months and that was enough for me. It is beautiful there but not all people are nice...that's for sure.

  5. The majority of people in Vancouver are no longer "locals".

What you perceive as "local" are actually immigrants or students on a visa.

We too are treated not too well, especially by the Chinese and Korean communities, who seem to have taken over the downtown core.

Most Caucasians will treat you properly, however.

  6. I'm sorry you had that experience. :(

I was born and raised there and have always found people to be kind and nice, BUT I could see an element of the population thinking they're too fabulous for the rest of the world.  We're not all like that!

  7. i was born here  68 years ago. The only rude people i meet are new arrived asians. The Filipinos are an exception . Been married to one 25 years

  8. Your question is somewhat difficult to answer without being considered a racist.  As Vancouver is truly a multi-cultural city you will also find that people working and living there are also from many different cultures.  Unfortunately they do not always conform to Canadian ways and customs and apply themselves as they did in the homeland which can appear very rude and is at times extremely nasty.  A beautiful city to live in but is also a rat race with the traffic problems and high cost of living.  Even the locals are having problems making ends meet and as a result are very stressed.

  9. Vancouver is a large city and as they go it is nice but it is a large city and folks aren't as nice as they would be in a smaller centre.  I live in a small city and here by and large folks are friendly and willing to help a stranger.

In my travels around North America and Europe I haven't found a large city to be open and friendly they all tend towards the mega city and the #$%^&* you attitude.

That is not to say I haven't met VERY friendly and great people in large cities in my travels because I have but I've met the other kind too.  Heck I used to be one of those jerks before my company at the time transfered me to the boon docks and I saw how PEOPLE really live and not just city dewllers.
