I was wanting a new pet but i don't have very much time to look after it, i was considering a hamster...?

but as hamsters are nocturnal do they bite a lot? are they nice pets to have?

what others a nice pets? i had a rabbit for a while but i didn't really like it as i felt having to go out into the rain to clean its cage out and feed it all the time got on top of me, i'd only want an indoor pet. and my dad doesn't want a dosmesticated rabbit.

i'd rather something i can pet not like a fish or whatever

i have a jack russell atm so he takes up a lot of my time for walks, and this is why i want a low key pet.

i am very lazy so yeah haha, and as i am 15 it would probably stay in my room.

any suggestions?

A hamster needs to be fed and the cage cleaned as often as a rabbit, so you probably would get quite fed up with it.  Also, being nocturnal they run on their wheel and chew on the bars of their cage all night.  It makes it hard to sleep sometimes.  When I had one, I finally had to take the cage out of my room and put it in the basement so I could sleep!  But I loved my hamster and was very good about taking care of her.  I cleaned out her cage and changed her water for fresh every day and spent hours playing with her.  Then she had babies and I had 5 little baby hamsters.  That was quite a surprise!  If you don't want to spend much time caring for a pet, I suggest you don't get another one.  Just play with your dog more.  I'm sure he will appreciate some extra attention.

Hamsters can make good pets but like all animals you have to take them out of the cage and pet them. Yes they are nocturnal and don't like to be woke up in the morning, that's the time they might bite the most. There is the matter of the cage. Hamsters can be messy animals and the cage needs to be changed once a week. If you really want a hamster, when you go to the pet store ask if the hamsters are handled a lot. A hamster that is handled regularly when be a sweeter hamster.

I had 2 hamsters before (different times) one Teddy bear hamster and one black one. I really like both of them. but if anything get a teddy bear hamsters, they are the cutest. His name was max and I held him maybe 15 mins to an hour each day. He was perfect. Out of 2 years he only bite me twice because i forgot to wash my hands and i had food on them haha. their great little pets. tips- get a teddy bear boy, (they are nicer) get a baby or young, hold it for at least once a day specilally when its a baby.
