I live in NYC for 4 years now. I sat in the subway yesterday on my way to see my family doctor. I was wondering how will the train drivers go the toilet whenever is needed while they drive for 8 hours daily?

  1. x London underground train driver if only need p when on turn round at end of line go 4 p

if can not wait tell then --then stop train open cab door have p

if no 2 call on radio need pnr (physical needs relief) another driver take train over 4 u then re meet your train on way back

  2. They aren't operating trains for a constant 8 hours.  They can use the crew facilities at each terminal (at each end of the route).

In the event that they have an immediate need somewhere along the route (and it has happened but not very often).  They radio in that they need to "take a comfort" and use whatever is available at the next station.  There is usually an employee facility that the station booth clerks use or there could be a room for station cleaning equipment.  The train would then remain in the station until the train operator returns (yes, it does back things up a bit but what can one do).

  3. they usually have employee rooms somewhere

(even LA metro has them (they are hidden from public view

and you need a employee key to access them

  4. Seems logical they will walk into the toilet.
