  1. In some areas it is 5 on trains and some bus companies start charging childs fares at 2 it all depends, ie are they sitting on your lap or "taking up" a seat.

Contact the local operators before you book or travel so that you know what their pricing policies are.

    Happy travels

  2. In the UK (i.e. national rail) I think it's five, but in London I think teenagers can get free bus passes.

You'd have to check with the local authority as the rules do differ...

  3. You will find that you start paying for the little ones at age five

  4. You didn't say where!

It depends on public policy and individual companies. If in doubt ask the company!

  5. i think its 6-7 the start paying the child fare. Then there is the student fare, the adult and then the senior.

  6. As far as Train tickets are concerned, children in the age group of 5 to 12 years are charged half the fare. As far as the bus fare is concerned, it depends on the State and the ownership of the bus.

  7. I think it depends on where you live. In the East of England, where I live, you start paying adult fares at the age of 14.

And take a writing class. It's 'train and bus *fares*'

  8. Its 5 for bus, train and ferries. My grandchilren live on the Isle of Wight and I often go over to pick them up using pubic transport. I never have to pay for the 3 years old and started paying for my grandson when he reached 5.

  9. 4 or 5 years old in Australia

  10. 5 years for both train and bus

  11. It depends on where you are from. Over here in Singapore we go by the height. 0.9m to 1.2m. Those below 0.9 need not pay if they are travelling with a paying pax. Those between the 2 height limits can pay child fare. Those beyond 1.2 needs to show a student card to travel at a conession rate.

  12. trains are 5 years, don't know about the busses though,

  13. On the trains, up to the age of 5 infants travel free.  Between 5 and 15 inclusive, they are considered as children, and generally pay half the adult fare.

In London, children under the age of 11 travel free on the buses and tubes.

If you regularly travel on the trains with a fare paying child, you might consider purchasing a Family Railcard.

  14. For most Train operaing Companies it is 5 year olds, however Heathrow Express, Gatwick Express and Euro Tunnel have slightly different rules.

As for busses I guess the same not sure.

  15. Its five but if your children are short for their age you might be able to get away with saying they are four I did once or twice but then honesty got the better of me. I think you can get a family rail card though, but I don't know how it works though.
