  1. Hi there.

am a single mum, and when i wasnt working, and only had 1 child, i would get income support of about £100 per week, and then the child benefit of £16 per week.

I now have 2 children, and work part time, and am DEFINATELY better off.

  2. You can collect unemployment, but it would be tought

  3. UK ANSWER AS JOBSEEKERS IS A UK BENEFIT -

You'd get income support, rather than job seekers allowance. And the rate depends on your age etc. But, generally you'll get around £60 per week for you, and around £45/50 for your child (but this will be paid separately as child tax credits). You'll also get your council tax paid, and all or some of your rent through housing benefit. This is assuming you qualify for benefit, which as a single parent you should. The cut off age where you are entitled to income support as a single parent is when the child reaches 16, although this is being lowered soon to 14. The best thing you can do is make an appointment at your local jobcentre plus to see a benefits officer and a lone parent advisor.

    Good luck.

  4. Don't depend on the government. Work more, longer, and harder to support that child. Nothing is more wonderful than a parent that supports their own child.

  5. It's because of people like you our government and nation as a whole is suffering.

    Keep working.
