  1. The K2 fuse is an entry to intermediate board that is made for freeride. It is a nice board with a extruded base (less maintainance, not as fast, used on many park boards because its more durable). It is relatively flexable because it does not have any carbon fiber I-beams which give it more torsion strength as well as pop.

That being said. I ride a WWW (world wide weapon). It is almost the same price as the fuse, but it is made for freestyle riding. Thicker pieces of wood used to give it more pop and more agressive sidecut to shorten board but enables it to ride like a larger board.

Do some research on snowboards. You will find that within each $50 price range (ie 250-300 or 300 to 350) the boards are technologically the same. it just depends on what you need. I'd say stick with K2, you get the most bang for your buck (Rome is great also).

  2. K2 make good quality boards, and their cheaper boards as with all brands are generally their entry level boards. As you get better and more advanced at snowboarding the price of the board you buy will go up also. But dont think that just because a boards entry level it means it poor quality, its just less responsive which is what you need when you first start out. If that board suits your level of riding and style of riding it will be a good one to go for, Good luck.
