  1. I was on the Liberty in December last year (2006).  I am a platinum cruiser with Carnival and have 22 under my belt with them.

I found the Liberty to be one of their most lovely ships.  The decor is simply stunning and a little more low key that some of their other Farkus-decorated ships.  The food was absolutely wonderful, service was impeccable and the ship itself was spotless.  The staterooms are typical Carnival which means, the largest and most spacious afloat with all of the usual Carnival amenities - lots of closet and drawer space, plenty of room to move around.  I was in a balcony stateroom on Upper Deck (my favorite location).  The bathroom was very spacious and beautifully appointed.

I believe that, though it is a sister to other ships, it seems to be a little easier to navigate through and around.  She is HUGE and the design has left spacious areas where people flow easily from one end to the other.  The Lido and pool areas are very well done with plenty of "sun" and "shade" places.

The decorating was simply awesome.  LOTS of Murano glass chandeliers including a giant over the atrium.  All of the chandeliers change colors and makes for wonderful ambience along the Promenade.  I found the bar area near the casino to be a sort of "gathering" place during the day.  There are plenty of small tables and chairs in addition to the bar and they have great live entertainment right there every evening.  Lots of room to sit and to dance or just "people-watch".

The service in the dining room was simply perfect and the food ample and well presented.

I think you will enjoy this ship.  She seems to attract a lot of experienced cruisers who like a little less of the party-hardy atmosphere...not that there is any lack of that!!!

I fully expect to be on her again - as soon as I find a price I can live with.  I sail solo - and solo travelers pay premium rates....so I wait until a soft sailing or two comes up on my favorite websites and book then.  The cruise I was on was the 6 day....hoping to do the 8 day next.

Go - and have a wonderful time.

  2. when you pack for your cruise, decide what you must have with you and then cut it down to less than that. (smile) seriously, the past couple of cruises i took, i had taken too much stuff with me.

a good website to find out details is cruisecritic.com

    and also cruiseclues.com

where are you going? is it the caribbean?  have a good cruise.

  3. im going on this ship the beg of nov and cant wait. i have heard that this ship and the sister ships are the best carnival has to offer. i did alot of research before booking and crossing my fingers but i read like 90%good things. the ship is alot bigger then the fantasy line the only thing i heard was that some of the decor is extreme

  4. I've been on the sister ship to the Liberty, the Valor. We had an amazing week in the Eastern Caribbean. It was the 3rd out of our 4 cruises so far. If you have specific questions about ports, cabins, food, service, tipping, excursions, etc then check out cruisecritics.com. You can even go to roll call and search under your cruiseline/ship/date of sailing and "meet" other people cruising with you. I did that and it worked out great. Shared an excursion, and they had a great tip for a hotel the night before the cruise. You'll have a great time.
