I wanted to join a workout club for women. Does anyone know if curves is good? I want to tone up and lose about ten pounds for my wedding in April.

  1. My mother tried it and said that it was kinda a drag.  you just go in rotation on the machines and thats about all there is too it.  honestly i say try to find a community college near you.  pay 20 bucks for one unit palates class.   Its fun and a cheap way to work out 3 times a week for a couple months.   That option might be too late for you now since school just started but i say still go check it out.  it was a really fun and got me into shape.

  2. many curves are going to have Curves Smart, it's like a personal trainer with you the entire workout.

it keeps track of everything from heart rate to muscles used, and it tells you when you can advance/reduce your workout.

    it does a lot more.

  3. I did not like Curves.  Some of the machines felt very awkward and unnatural to me.  I felt like I hurt my back more than I helped my weight. I think you would be better off to start walking on a treadmill or doing an exercise video at home.

  4. I didn't like it either. I'm early thirties and was one of the youngest people there. I found the circuit very boring. If you want to lose the weight, walk! Cardio is great for losing those extra pounds and incorporate some light weights with high reps for toning. Good luck!

  5. Their machines aren't adjustable and if you're short or tall you risk hurting or straining something trying to use them.

My friends who joined Curves basically outgrew the workout pretty quickly.  You'd be better off joining the YMCA or a gym that gives lots of exercise classes.  There's more variety, lots of options for finding something YOU like, and there's exercise equipment if you don't have time for a class.
