  1. NO .... The US State Dept changed the rules again so if you go outside the country on a cruise ship you will not be required to have  a passport to get back in the country from the ship until after 2007.  When you dock in Cozumel the Mexican authorities don't ask to see passports from cruise passengers and when you get back to the ship you show your cruise card that the ship issues to you.

Check out the new passport rules:

  2. If you are on a cruise leaving from the U.S. and you are a U.S. citizen, No, you don't need a passport yet? But, the government is modifying that law and you need to check the website for the cruiseline you are booking with to make sure of the latest policies.

  3. yes.

effective january 1 2007 you must have a passport for any travel by sea outside of US ocean boundries. i am going on a cruise in january and had to get a passport rushed to me so i can go. it normally takes about 2 months to get a passport so if you are leaving sooner than that you will have to get an expidited passport. it takes about 2 weeks to receive and will cost you about $160.00

  4. the rules have changed at first it was on jan 1 2007 we all had to have pass ports for land and cruise but they have moved it back to jan 8 2008 for cruise travel yeah but if you fly you will need a pass port and have a great vacation and happy holidays to you and yours

  5. You actually have to have a Passport to get BACK into the US, not to go to Cozumel. However, because of that, yes, cruise lines require you to have a Passport for travel after January 7, 2007. (Before then, you can still us an original birth certificate with other photo ID (ie. state drivers license) but it's a pain because they usually take you to the "let's have a talk" line instead of the customary "wave through" line.)

  6. This is going to depend on when and where your cruise starts.

2007 starting and ending in a US port - No passport is required.  Just photo ID and original or certified copy of a birth certificate.

2007 cruise starting or ending in a foreign port - Passport is required for the flight in or out of the foreign country

2008 Passports required for all cruises, air, and boarder crossings.

  7. for the most part you will need a passport starting after December 31st.  While I believe they have extended this requirement for those traveling by cruise or car into and out of international countries until June of 2007 I would highly recommend that you take no chances and get a passport ASAP if you are planning to travel outside of the United States soon.  For more information you can visit our cruise and travel resource page on our website at bctravelcompany.com.  The link to this particular page is on the home page under the travel resources section.
