Question:

I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has ever thought of getting a non medical human implant?

I don't mean the little RFID chips that everything is getting implanted with. I mean real implants. Small bluetooth speakers in the back of your ears? A MP3 player in the hip? Is any of it posible? Would any one do it if it was?

  1. Basically we have to be carefull because virtual reality can replace reality very easily and unless you are a vegetable you would not want this. You could actually have the virtual reality hardware implanted into your brain and lay in bed doing nothing and in virtual be slaying dragons and you wouldn't know it wasn't real. in other words you would be wasting your life. It could be like the  next drug addiction.

  2. No one has invented any implants that I would want.

BTW: A while back, there was talk about an MP3 breast implant.  I don't know if it was ever done though

  3. I would never implant a non-necessary piece of technology.  Have you ever been to an old house that has an intercom or any other such device that was modern when it was built?  Would you have implanted an 8-track tape deck?

  4. I am sure it would be much easier to install than a pacemaker, and such things would end up getting installed at tatoo parlors instead of the doctors office.

Yes, all of this is perfectly possible, just not practical. What happens when the MP3 player you got is outdated and new models come out with better features? What happens if they develope a new and better format for music?

How do you think the guy feels today who got the 8 track implanted in his abdomen?
